Day 296 - This was in my Dad's 'British basket' he received for his birthday last weekend. It makes me laugh...I know, I'm so mature.

Sugar Bush
** Photo taken by other as I forgot to take pictures.
Day 290 - Today was my Dad's 50th birthday! We surprised him by getting Monkey out of the hospital on a day pass and going to the sugar bush. Good food, a horse carriage ride and cake! It was a good day.

I love Sushi.
Day 211 - I <3 Sushi. I really do. I went to Costco tonight to pick it up just because I had a craving! NOM. NOM.

Pretzels
Day 199 - I found some recipes from cooking class in JUNIOR HIGH. Man, I am getting old. BUT! These pretzels were awesome, so I decided to make them again. I gave up on the traditional pretzel shape and went for this awkward looking - yet still wonderfully yummy - stick shape. And then I ate 3!! This is pre-baked...I'm afraid the baked ones didn't last long enough to get their photo taken. ;)

Merry Xmas!!
Day 184 - Merry Xmas! We had dinner at my parent's place to celebrate. Turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings. YUM! The girls were so cute together all night. Here's a shot of their hugfest.

Staff Party
Day 170 - So this evening was interesting...I had my company Xmas party. We went to a local restaurant, got dressed up and had the LONGEST. MEAL. EVER. Seriously. We were all there by 7:30pm and we left the place at 10:45pm. And not by choice! Service was SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
Oh yeah, and then my car caught on fire on the way to the after party at my boss' place. Man, do I know how to have a good time!

SUSHI!
Day 156 - I took a sushi making course today. This is a shot of my nigiri (fish on top) sushi. The class was a ton of fun and I got to make and bring home so much. Mr. Penguin and I had it for lunch...I am so full!

Bruschetta
Day 124 - I love grocery days. I always buy tomatoes and bruschetta seasonings and get a fresh loaf of bread. Once the kids are in bed, I make up the entire loaf for supper (sometimes I even share with Mr. Penguin!) I meant to take a picture of the awesomeness of it all...but it was gone too fast. This is the empty pan. NOM NOM

Still sick
Day 108 - I'm still severely sick. We missed Thanksgiving Dinner with my family. Boo. We managed to drive over to deliver the pump for the blow-up mattress though. And we got our left overs in the process! It's the highlight of my day.

Eating at the table
Day 105 - Baby got a booster seat and is now out of her high chair. She now gets to sit beside her sister and terrorize play with her. Aren't they sweet? hehe

Fishy!
Day 78 - The girls and I tried the other pack of fish I bought tonight. It was very yummy! I will definitely be getting more. The baby couldn't shovel it in fast enough.
Yay for healthiness!

Not camping
Day 71 - Mr. Penguin isn't done one of his contracts, so we can't head out to camp yet. Packing up all the food and gear is a lot of work! Especially since this is our first camping trip of the year. So much to wash and pack and clean...I'm looking forward to just being out there and relaxing for a few days.

Camping "food"
Day 69 - Mr. Penguin wanted beans for our camping trip this weekend. Since I don't care for them and they are for him alone, I got him the maple kind - as I don't like maple either.
Maybe I should get him his own tent too...

Sushi
Day 64 - The girls and I met my parents, my Aunt and two cousins at the buffet place in town. They make excellent sushi. YUM!
I had sushi tonight in celebration of me booking and paying for my sushi making class!! I'm so freakin' excited. It's in November and taught by the owner of a major sushi chain. And I get to bring home enough for 6 people!

Tilapia
Day 54 - I don't particularly care for seafood. It's surprising really, considering I'm a Maritimer. But I am slowly adding fish into my diet for the health benefits. I have at least one fish based lunch a week (I am addicted to the Spicy Thai Chili tuna cans on rye crackers with some mayo. YUM!!), and am starting to add in a supper option too.
Last week at the grocery store I bought 2 packs of fish. Tilapia (pictured) and salmon (yet to be tried). The instruction are to take a serving out of the freezer and place in a pot of boiling water for 8 mins. The serving is in a bag with the seasonings and dressing, just serve with whatever you'd like. Simple enough.
Tonight I made the tilapia and served it over a cup of brown rice with some warmed zucchini pieces, mini corn cobs and tomato. Not bad! I could definitely eat it again. Now to try it on the kids...
